Computer Video Editing and Special Effects
(Grades 9 - 12 ; 2 Periods a week for one full school year.)
This course provides students with basic knowledge of computer and video techniques. Skills learned include: creating 3D fly-by effects, transitions, warping , composites, color manipulation, morphing , basic animation and titles, story board development, lighting, and video recording techniques.
Each student will produce three videos. Examples might include: "how-to" video, a commercial advertisement or a video of their own choice (music video or short film) including the video effects learned. Each student will also participate on a team producing a video which will require interviewing, visualizing still photos, and dubbing sound and music. A presentation on current video software and equipment is also required.
Outstanding student work will be displayed at the annual Student Video Festival on campus.
This course fulfills the 1/3 addtional unit of the Arts requirement.
